Oh, wow, YAY!! We are nominated for Spellemann, the Norwegian Grammys!!

YAY!!! Can’t believe our album AC II: Desert Sky made it so far!

This is such an honor, can’t believe our new album AC II: Desert Sky made it that far.

It’s an honor to say that our album AC II: Desert Sky has been nominated for a Spellemann award (which is the Norwegian Grammys)!

It truly means a lot to us, and what means even more, is all the support from you and all our fans, everyone who has bought our album on vinyl and CD, and everyone who listens to our music every day.

THANK YOU, we couldn’t have done this without you.

The Spellemann award ceremony will be on March 22nd.

Also, the album is now officially available on Vinyl and CD in our merch store.

This Spring we’ll do a few shows around Norway, to celebrate our new album and the nomination (dates HERE). More touring news will come later, what we can say at the moment is that there’s definitely gonna be more touring later this year! (Btw, you can make requests HERE.)

Thank you so much for being here, and hope to see you on the road soon!

And if you’re curious, keep reading for some AC story time:

Ever since driving through the desert of the American South West, on a road-trip in between club shows, we have been dreaming about the desert. The vast, beautiful landscapes, it’s awe-inspiring and spectacular. It’s also very sunny, which makes it perfect for our Roadside Jams and our Desert Jams. You don’t have to worry about all the gear getting ruined by rain and fog, as we always do here in Norway.

The desert inspired our song “Desert”, which was the first song written for our new album, and is also the title track. From the very first recording session, where we recorded “Desert” a few months before our very first US Tour, we have made, produced and recorded, everything on this album ourselves. Apart from a cover song by Neil Young, we also wrote all the songs ourselves.

After wrapping up the recording process, we considered different ways of getting this album released. The obvious answer was, as always, to just do it ourselves. Carol painted and created artwork for days and days, while Ask implemented the paintings and drawings into designs on the computer. Unlike our first album, where we did a Kickstarter Corwd-funding campaign for the vinyl, we took a chance and financed it all ourselves. We found a great record plant in Berlin, Germany, and they made an amazing record, with a special desert-y custom color selection just for us.

We don’t have any teams, agencies, big record labels or anyone backing us, we stand completely on our own feet. It’s a longer, harder process, but it gives us 100% creative control and artistic freedom. That’s why it’s worth it. That’s why it means so much that you listen to our music. That’s why this nomination means a lot to us.

Thanks again for being here, and hope to see you on the road, we can’t wait!

Take care,

Big hugs from Norway,

Ask & Carol, Ask Carol
